Yellowstone Christmas Tours and Winter Holidays
Escape to the magic of Yellowstone National Park this holiday season for an unforgettable Christmas wildlife tour! The park transforms into a pristine, snow-covered landscape, offering some of the best wildlife viewing opportunities of the year. Join our expert naturalist guides on a private Yellowstone tour for an intimate, educational, and breathtaking experience.

Winter Wildlife of Yellowstone's Northern Range
Our winter-time tours concentrate on the park’s Northern Range—the area between the North Entrance in Gardiner, MT, and the Northeast Entrance by Cooke City, MT. The Northern Range ecosystem is the best place to see the diverse wildlife of Yellowstone in December and January. The northern portions of the park are typically lower elevation, allowing the wildlife to congregate during this harsher season. The park's northern range is comprised of large sagebrush meadows, towering peaks of the Absaroka Mountains, and, of course, the world-famous Lamar Valley.
The main goal of the winter wildlife tours is to see wolves. Winter is the prime season for viewing Yellowstone's iconic wolves. The contrast of their black and grey coats along the white, snowy slopes makes them easier to spot. Many of our guests have been entertained watching the wolves howl, hunt, and interact amongst the packs.
The Christmas season in Yellowstone is also a fantastic time to see the massive herds of bison and elk surviving the harsh winter. Elk and bison often gather in the lower elevations of the park during the colder months. See and photograph snowy-faced bison or watch the icy breath cloud of a bull elk in the crisp winter air.
Other Species seen during the winter holiday season include coyotes, foxes, bighorn sheep, and moose. The park's winter diversity is truly special.
Christmas Tour Packages
We offer single-day and multi-day adventures perfect for individuals, couples, and families. Availability for Christmas week is limited, so we encourage early booking! Although a wide variety of wildlife can be seen on a single day trip, a multi-adventure gives you a better chance to see wolves in Yellowstone. A multi-day winter tour can allow for a more leisurely pace and other activities like Country Skiing or Snowshoeing.
Why Book A Winter Tour of Yellowstone?
A tour is the best way to maximize your vacation and see the most animals. The tours are educational, family-friendly exploration of the Northern Range with a naturalist guide. All of the winter tours are private!
